The glowing Fears watch, hand-built in Britain in small batches, is a testament to elegance and precision. The curvaceous Brunswick draws inspiration from a 1924 gentleman’s cushion case watch in the Fears archives and features a dial color reminiscent of the 1940s and 50s.
The 38mm cushion-shaped case, crafted from 316L stainless steel in Hong Kong, has no flat surfaces, even the solid caseback has a gentle sweep. The case’s curves, polished to a depth usually reserved for precious metals, reflect the sophistication of both the machinery and the operator’s skill. The watch is manually wound daily using a bespoke 'onion'-shaped winding crown, signed with the Fears Cypher. The crown’s fine grooves catch the light, adding a radiant touch to the case’s edge.
The Brunswick Salmon showcases a Copper Salmon dial, a tone achieved with galvanic coatings of 18ct rose gold and copper. Expertly made in Germany, the dial's surface features a delicate hand-applied vertical brushing, making each dial unique and subtly reflective. This is complemented by concentric circle finishing on the sunken sub-seconds at 6 o’clock. Hand-applied numerals, diamond polished, sand-blasted, and coated in anthracite, feature the custom ‘Edwin’ typeface, specially designed for Fears.
The watch’s iconic 'Fears'-shaped hands, also made in Germany, are skeletonized and finished in blue using physical vapor deposition, changing from almost black to electric blue in different lights. Powered by a Swiss-made, manual winding ETA 7001 movement, the Brunswick ensures reliability with blued screws and Côtes de Genève striping.
Paired with a handmade Bristol Leather strap in Bristol Black, the Brunswick uses calf leather vegetable tanned in Britain’s oldest tannery, Bristol’s Thomas Ware & Sons. The stainless steel pin buckle is subtly engraved with the Fears logo. The watch fits all straps in the Fears range, which can be easily fitted without tools.
Each watch is uniquely numbered, with the serial number engraved between the 20mm lugs at 12 o’clock, allowing Fears to identify and trace the watch’s history. Continuing a tradition, the Brunswick Salmon is presented in a bespoke wooden box stained Fears Blue and lined in genuine cream suede, echoing the dark blue box with cream lining used for decades. The watch sits proudly on a special cushion, completing its elegant presentation.
